Here is a summary of the changes.
- No more looking for signs of circulation
- No longer do you perform a minutes worth of treatment if you are on your own and major trauma is suspected (Lifeguards are an exception in respect of drowning)
- No initial 10 breaths for a non-breathing casualty
- 30:2 (Compressions to breaths) are consistent for all – children and babies included
- Heel of the hand goes straight to the center of the chest
If you don’t want to breathe for your casualty, you are not obligated. Perform chest compressions only. |
