Food Safety Foundation is a gold award winning food
safety training system developed in partnership with
Creative Learning Media Ltd. It is one of the most cost
effective ways of providing training to assist in complying
with the legal requirement that "food handlers
must be supervised and instructed and/or trained in
food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activities."
"Outstanding
quality and merit as a self study learning package
for the Royal Institute's Foundation Certificate in
Food Safety"
The Royal
Institute of Public Health
The software consists of 15 modules. Each module
is self-contained and takes between 20 and 40 minutes
to complete. The navigation buttons, which are constantly
displayed during training, allow the learner to easily
and intuitively move forwards and backwards throughout
the content, repeating any topic as often as they
wish. At any time during the training, the user is
able to access the glossary or help pages and then
return to the same place in the training programme.
Whenever new information or facts are introduced,
they are followed by an exercise or simulation to
encourage the learner to apply the new knowledge in
an appropriate and familiar context. This is highly
effective at moving information into long term memory
and promotes efficient recall by encouraging the learner
to associate the new knowledge with actual work activities
and scenarios.
These interactions are a vital part of the learning
process and prepare the learner for the assessments
that follow each module. Hints are available if required
and a mistake is made, constructive feedback is given,
followed by an opportunity to try again.
"A
very useful and efficient food safety training tool
- I now have more time to devote to other training
needs"
Joseph
Vella, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, Malta
To complete each module, the learner must pass the
end of module assessment. The assessment consists
of 5 challenging questions, each with several permutations.
All five questions must be answered correctly to pass
the course (70 questions in total). To successfully
pass the test, the learner will have to pay close
attention to the contents of each module. If a question
is answered incorrectly, the learner has the opportunity
to try again before having to repeat the module.
This approach ensures that all members of staff who
complete the training programme have the knowledge
and understanding they need to handle, prepare and
serve food safely. No matter how many users are using
the system, Food Safety Foundation will always keep
track of each individual's progress.
Food Safety Foundation offers the complete Level
1 training solution and with induction, Level 1 and
refresher training, can usually be implemented within existing
training budgets.
"
a marvelous tool for companies to allow individuals
to train at their own pace and whenever they have
a spare half hour or so. I would be happy to recommend
Food Safety Foundation and would think most food companies
would jump at the opportunity to have such a good
training tool"
Joe Laverick,
Health & Saefty Advisor, Business Link Devon &
Cornwall
