Frequently Asked Questions

I get one of the following errors when I try to open a Highfield presentation

  1. ‘Powerpoint cannot open the HFPP.ppt because part of the file is missing’
  2. ‘Powerpoint cannot read HFPP.ppt’
  3. ‘Powerpoint cannot open the type of file represented by HFPP.ppt’
  4. ‘Powerpoint Viewer cannot open the file HFPP.ppt because the file is corrupted’

This is a know bug which affects Powerpoint 2003 and can be remedied by downloading a patch from the Microsoft web-site.

Cannot load disk
There is not enough space available on your hard disk. To make more space available, delete old applications and programs you don't use (Check System requirements).

The disk will not run
There is not enough memory available. Quit all other applications and programs. If this does not work, increase your machine's RAM (Check System requirements).

There is no sound
Check whether you have a sound card installed. If so, check your speakers or headphones are connected to the CD-ROM drive, and that the volume control is turned up.

There is sound clipping
The CD-ROM drive or your processor are not fast enough (Check System requirements) or you have a low spec sound card. Copy the CD contents onto your hard-drive; this will reduce or eliminate the clipping.

Cannot complete a module or get past 'What the Law Says'
(Health & Safety)
At the point in the program which covers 'What the Law Says', you will have three options. 'Employers Responsibilities', 'Employees Responsibilities' and Review all Topics'. Repeat until you have viewed each page.

Cannot print a certificate even though the user has finished
(Food Safety Foundation)
Log in as the user in question, and go to the module selection screen. To the left of each module title there is a white progress bar which gets smaller as you progress through the module. Look at each bar, of there is any of the bar left, you will need to retake 1 or more pages in that module. Sometimes the bar will be so small it will just appear as a black line.

Training records lost
(network version)
The software has not been copied onto the server's hard-drive, your permissions do not allow records to be saved to the server's hard-drive or you are not running a local-server network. NB: Records will not be kept if the CD is being run from a virtual drive.

Changing display settings
