Food Safety Foundation is a multimedia based training package
in food hygiene available as a CD-ROM. This computer-based
food safety course is based on 'The Food Hygiene Handbook'
by Richard Sprenger.
'...I thoroughly
recommend the software
as a tool to deliver hygiene training...'
The programme consists of fifteen modules. Each module
is self contained, extremely user friendly and the
information provided the ideal balance for a basic
course neither too complicated or condescending.
The flexibility of the software enabled me to review
the software over a number of days and would be advantageous
to food businesses facing operational difficulties
whenever staff attend courses away from the workplace.
The exercises were interactive with a hint button
for extra support. The topics were brought to life
by the excellent quality of the photographs, video
clips and animation.
'...provided
the ideal balance for a basic course...'
Managers can assess their staff throughout the whole
course, print performance reports, chooses the modules
that they wish handlers to study and the pace.
The program can be customised to suit a specific
operation or application and special licence arrangements
are available for larger businesses and those with
multiple sites. Overall I found the training package
enjoyable and informative. I thoroughly recommend
the software as a tool to deliver hygiene training
to food handlers.
